Adam McBride

Owner and winemaker

Adam's passion for wine started in one of the world's great wine regions, Germany's Mosel Valley. Living for 2 years in a small winemaking village nestled between steep sloped Riesling vineyards, he developed a deep appreciation for not only wine, but its makers, its culture, and its impact on community. The seed was planted and it stayed with him. After an 8-year career as an Air Force officer and stints running logistics for some of Michigan's most prominent manufacturers, he finally made the dream of running a winery/vineyard a reality. With an MBA from Michigan State and formal wine education through Napa Valley Wine Academy and the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (Level 3 Award with Distinction) under his belt, he purchased Hickory Creek Winery in September 2017.  Adam has two teenaged daughters, Olivia and Lillian. He is a 2020 honors graduate of the Wine and Viticulture Technology program at Lake Michigan College. Currently, his favorite wines are complex white varieties like our 2022 Pinot Gris, refreshing and full of character. His go-tos for food and drinks in the area would be The Peasant's Pantry, The Historian, and Susan's, both just a few miles west of the winery in Sawyer, Michigan and The Bentwood Tavern in New Buffalo. When he has spare time, Adam can usually be found outside, either on one of his motorcycles taking in the winding roads along the Lake Michigan shoreline or hiking somewhere on the Appalachian Trail. He is an aspiring mountaineer with three of the seven summits under his belt.

Accolades: Napa Valley Wine Academy/WSET Level 3 (with Distinction); Napa Valley Wine Academy/WSET Level 2 (with Distinction); Master of Business Administration (Michigan State University); Associate in Applied Science with Honors - Wine and Viticulture Technology (Lake Michigan College); Lean Six Sigma Green Belt; Supply Chain Management Certification (Michigan State University); Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals, Michigan Wine Competition.

Jasmine Parkinson

winemaker

A lifelong plant enthusiast, Jasmine enrolled as one of the first students in the Wine and Viticulture program at Lake Michigan College. She was the youngest student to earn an Associates Degree in Applied Science through LMC’s program. She was involved in all aspects of wine production, vineyard management and tasting room operations through the college’s academic program and its associated retail outlet, Lake Michigan Vintners. Jasmine worked with several wineries in the area and eventually joined the team at Hickory Creek just before harvest in 2021. She jumped into roles both in the tasting room and in cellar operations. With her energy, enthusiasm and technical knowledge, she was quickly promoted to Assistant Winemaker in 2022 and then Winemaker in early 2024, becoming one of the first female winemakers in the Lake Michigan Shore AVA. Jasmine is especially excited about Hickory Creek’s Bordeaux-style blends, such as the 2021 Merlot-Carménère and the 2021 Mélange. She has lived in Southwest Michigan since 2018 and currently resides in the Galien area with her two Great Pyrenees, Teddy and Winston.

Chris is obsessed with the 2019 Cabernet Franc.

Jamie DeVinney

Senior tasting consultant

Jamie was born and raised in West Michigan, but his career and travels have taken him to some of the finest wine regions in the world. He has considerable experience running restaurant operations and is very comfortable behind the bar, pouring wines and entertaining guests with his sense of humor that is as dry as some of our wines. Jamie has been a part of the team since 2015. His favorite Hickory Creek wine is the 2019 Merlot. If asked for a restaurant recommendation, he would point you toward Greenbush Brewing Company in Sawyer for an amazing dinner.
